Sacha and Anna’s lesbian wedding at the Amelia Shaw Bar in Brunswick, was the most colourful, unconventional, fun wedding I have ever photographed.
Sacha and Anna are extremely shy people. They didn’t want to draw any more attention to themselves than was absolutely necessary. They didn’t even read their own vows. Instead each vow was numbered on a strip of paper and placed in a hat, guests were invited to lucky dip a vow from a hat and read it in numerical sequence. It was magical. You had no idea who was going to read the next vow. The room as alive!
I first met Sacha and Anna three years ago while working on my photographic petition for Marriage Equality – the In Bed Project – Read their story.
We knew marriage equality was a few years off, but we had no idea we would have to endure a postal vote!
So, when Sacha and Anna told me they were having a massive sing-a-long to Katy Perry’s – Fuck You at their wedding, I started warming up my vocal chords.

“Lisa is magical. Getting wed is pretty nerve wrecking. We arrived at the venue a little flustered. Lisa was a calm and funny presence, a little like a wise aunty who knows how to take the pressure off. She went about taking our photos with gentle subtly. During the ceremony she was almost invisible, a bit like a ninja. Somehow, whilst being invisible she managed to capture the essence of our day. The images she gave us capture the detail, the colour, the joy, sentiment, tears and laughter. She describes herself as a photographer for realists- she is exactly that. Lisa is responsive, reliable, and delightful. Lisa is amazing and the perfect wedding photographer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!”
