Stefan and Athena’s Wedding – Collingwood Children’s Farm

Collingwood Children’s Farm is a stunning location for a wedding. Approaching the farm from the Merri Creek trail is a magnificent old oak tree.  As soon as I saw the wedding guests mingling under the tree I knew it was going to be a beautiful wedding to photograph. The diffused light of that oak tree is a photographers dream.

As a documentary photographer, I don’t have a lighting rig with assistants carrying bounce light reflectors. I have to work with whatever lighting state I encounter. Some venue’s lighting choices (harsh fluorescent, darkly lit environments, highly reflective surfaces, etc) can be a real challenge to work with. Photographers need to balance the lighting states in order to render images as the eye sees. With the diffused light of the oak tree and the warmth of the Collingwood Children’s Farm balancing the light at this wedding venue was easy.
