Frequently Asked Questions

Some things you need to know and some things you might want to know…

What is your photo style?

My style of photography is often called photo-journalistic or documentary. What does that mean? It means I don’t run around posing everyone, instead I become part of your day, part of what’s going on, a quiet observer of things. I capture the real, the unposed, the natural. I know that your life is bigger than a one dimensional moment and it’s up to me to capture a splice of the bigger picture and make sense of it.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A 50% deposit will secure your date. All deposits are non-refundable, but where possible I am happy to reschedule.

When is full payment required?

Full payment is required prior to your photo date.

What do you mean when you say an “on location” photo-shoot?

An on location photo shoot simply means, I work in the real world, not in a studio. I will travel to your home or your favorite place. The world is your oyster, so take me to your favorite place –  if it’s the Alps that’s where we’ll go, if it’s a remote island in the Carribean that’s where we’ll go. That’s what on location means. Travel costs may apply.

What if my location is outside the included travel zone?

All my photographic packages include a free travel zone in the flat-fee price. If you live within a 30km radius from Melbourne CBD it’s in the free zone. However, if your favorite location is outside the free travel zone for your selected package, for example, you want to travel to Regional Victorica, NSW or NYC, the location is classified as non- local and additional travel fees, like airfares and accommodation may apply. We can discuss this when you get in touch

Is there a surcharge for public holidays?

Yes, there is a 20% surcharge on all packages.

Will you travel between different locations on the day? (ie from brides home to grooms etc)

Of course I will. Important note: Remember to allow travel time between each location when you are planning your day and considering how many hours you will require me.

How many digital images will I receive?

It varies depending on how many hours you require – but you will receive all the edited images. What does that mean? It means all the images have passed the Lisa test, they have been selected, edited, stay true to my style and up to my exacting professional standard. (Please note – while you will not receive all the images taken on the day – you will receive the best).

Your edited, professionally finished digital images  will be delivered via a personal Dropbox link. The digital files (for non-commercial  use only) will be in both high-resolution, suitable for printing your  own album and enlargements and also in low-resolution suitable for social media use.

When will I receive my digital images?

Events: within 7 – 10 days
Weddings: within 14 – 21 days

Express service available: If you need your photos extra fast I can usually accommodate this, additional fees may apply.

What is the best time to schedule a photo date?

Most people think a clear sunny day is the perfect light for photos. Generally isn’t.

Think… Search light (aka mid-day sun) VS Candle light (aka sunrise/sunset) Harsh light causes harsh shadows and generally is very unflattering.

Early morning or late afternoon light tends to be a softer light and casts an even light across your beautiful face. The light at this time is your friend.  If possible try to avoid harsh mid-day sun… it is not your friend.

Videographers vs Photographers

If you’re going to book a Videographer make sure they’re nice. We’ll both be vying for the best shot, so a videographer that knows how to share is a good choice. Choosing the “nice videographer and nice photographer” combo ensures you’ll end up with a great video and photo story.

Do you do prints?

Yes I can, most of my clients prefer to print their own enlargements. The cost of using my printing service will vary depending on what size you require, the paper stock you use and will also include a fee for my time.

Do you do provide a Wedding Album?

Short answer, no. Most of my clients choose to print their own. With so many online album services available you can save yourself a bucket load of cash by printing and managing your own album design.

Will we get a chance to meet you before the big day?

Definitely! If we’re going to be spending time together, we need to like each other. A catch up over a wee cuppa and we’ll soon know if we’re made for each other.

Who owns the (c) Copyright of the photographs?

Copyright in the photographs remains with the photographer aka me. You can use the photos on social media and you can print as many as you need for your personal, non-commercial use. All the legalities are covered in my booking form.

Use of images for commercial purposes will incur licensing fees. If you receive an inquiry to use the images for commercial purposes, i.e. a venue wants to use one of your wedding photos for their advertising, or blog etc, please refer the inquiry to me so I can assist them.
